VOCAL GIRLS PODCAST X THE GREAT ESCAPE: SINEAD O BRIEN
The VOCAL GIRLS podcast is a series where music journalist and VOCAL GIRLS Founder, Megan Graye, chats to artists about their past, present and future, and the music that intertwines these experiences. This is a series collaboration with The Great Escape Festival, so for this series Megan will be interviewing four key artists from their line-up. This week, Megan’s speaking to musician, poet, designer and so much more, Sinead O Brien.
Sinead’s music has strong and clear intentions. Focused on language, Sinead uses melody to add power to her words, making listening experiential. Combine that with the music of guitarist Julian Hanson and drummer Oscar Robertson and you have a distinctive and original sound that is instantly recognisable. Originally from Limerick, Sinead studied fashion design in Dublin before working as a full-time designer for Galliano in Paris and then Vivienne Westwood in London, until she felt a call to start creating in the music world.
In this episode Megan and Sinead chatted about the music that led her to becoming an artist, ‘responding to the room’ in a live setting and what we can expect from her highly anticipate debut album, Time Bend and Break The Bower.
This podcast is produced, edited and presented by Megan Graye. Music for the podcast was composed and recorded by Jessica Edwards ad the graphics are by Alayna Hunte. They are both members of the VOCAL GIRLS team.
