Names and roles?
Martha McKay (vocals, guitar, lyrics, bass) and Hannah Berry (lead vocals, guitar, piano)
How would you describe your music in three words?
Dreamy, chilled, fun
Where are you from - and what’s the best and worst thing about the place?
Glasgow! Best thing: the people and the humour are unmatched. Oh also Tennents (beer). Worst thing: The rain!
What are most of your lyrics centred around?
Inner thoughts, past relationships, friends, celebrities
What’s the first song of yours that people should listen to and why?
Martha- at the moment it’s definitely Gap in My Teeth. It’s a bit of a cheesy song at first but the lyrics are pretty sad.
The three main artist inspirations for your music?
Pale Waves, The 1975 and Sports Team.
Martha: If I were to pick singular musicians who have inspired me to get into music I’d say Al Greenwood (Sports Team), Phoebe Bridgers and Eliana from Beabadoobee.
What’s your band aesthetic?
I feel like it changes a lot, but the one we are going to try and stick to is a sorta late 80s bedroom-indie-pop vibe.
Other than music - what are you really passionate about?
The planet! Stand up for what you stand on.
What’s the best song for lifting you out of a bad mood?
Martha: Deceptacon - Le Tigre
Hannah: Dancing In the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
The song that best depicts your mood right now?
Martha: Man’s Word - Marina
Hannah: The Steps - Haim
Greatest love song?
Martha: Strawberry Fields Forever- It reminds me of my best mate.
Hannah: Couldn’t be anymore in Love - The 1975
The saddest song ever?
Martha: I need to be alone. - girl in red
Hannah: Both Sides Now - Joni Mitchell
The first gig you ever went to?
Martha: First non-classical concert was Pale Waves and Sports Team at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow.
Hannah: Mcfly at The Sec
Dream venue to play?
Martha: There are so many but I think if I could play anywhere in the world it would be the main stage at Mad Cool festival in Madrid. That would be mad cool!
Hannah: If we’re dreaming big , the Hydro would be pretty special to play! Or the O2 academy in Glasgow is a DREAM!
Favourite all time lyric?
Martha: “You don’t fuck with your poor fans, you meet the rich ones to expand your floor plans”
Hannah: “Those who find themselves ridiculous, sit down next to me.”
The artist you wish you could have seen before they died?
Martha: David Bowie a million times over. My favourite bi-icon.
Hannah: WHITNEY HOUSTON.
Favourite new artist/band we should check out?
Martha: Wednesday! They just released a beautiful 8 track album.
Hannah: JOAN!
When will you know you’ve really made it?
Martha: Not in a super cringey way but it feels like I already have. I am doing exactly what I love with one of my closest friends. I get to see her 3/4 times a week and it’s just the best excuse to meet up.
Hannah: getting played on Radio 1 would be everything.
