Unflirt knows the struggle of navigating your twenties. At least, so it seems upon listening to her fragile and open new EP April’s Nectar. Across the five tracks, the songwriter captures the transient experience of life as a young person. Opening with the wistful ‘Someday’, the London-born singer explores the realities of long-distance love over gentle acoustic guitar.

The new release follows Unflirt’s debut EP, Bitter Sweet, which dropped earlier this year, and documented the ups and downs of romance and heartbreak in adolescence. Mere months later, April’s Nectar delves even deeper and confronts the complicated emotions that come with being in a romantic relationship. This, combined with her vulnerable and confessional songwriting has certainly struck a chord: in 2023 she’s played a string of live shows, has supported beabadoobee on the EU leg of her tour and scored a spot at All Points East festival in Victoria Park this summer.

April’s Nectar also features latest single ‘Had Enough’, in which themes of one-sided friendships and feeling let down take centre stage.  The song gives a chance for those honey-tinged vocals and  grungy guitars to shine. April’s Nectar concludes with the song ‘Home’ - a track about accepting love in all its differences, and one fitting for an EP that takes listeners through emotional highs and lows. It’s a glimmering triumph that keeps you wondering what journey she’ll take us on next.
